Custom Homes

I’m John Van Lagen, owner of Joe’s Carpentry, a renovations, additions, and custom-home building company I’ve been running since 2005. Like many builders, I had big dreams for my business, but the reality was incredibly challenging. I tried everything I could think of, but nothing seemed to work.

Finding Clarity With APB

Everything changed the night I came across APB. I saw an ad that spoke directly to a financial issue I had been struggling with that day. I filled out the form, and within an hour, someone from APB had called me. From that point on, my life began to change.

Building a Business That Works

Through APB’s mentoring and systems, I learned how to take control of my business. I implemented online management tools, grew my team from 10 to 20 people, and shifted my focus from grinding inside the business to working on it. I reduced my work hours from 70–80 hours a week down to about 40, while revenue doubled and profits quadrupled, from 2% to 10% net. Today, I spend 75% of my time working on the business, and if I want to step away for ten days, everything keeps running.

Freedom, Family, and the Future

What APB gave me goes far beyond numbers. It gave me freedom, confidence, and peace of mind. My children now work in the business, and we’re building something that can carry into the next generation, with documentation, systems, and support in place. I truly believe APB is an investment, not an expense. Without APB, I wouldn’t have what I have today. I wouldn’t have the freedom. I wouldn’t have a happy family.
